On 1 July 2026, the association Digital Accelerator of Latvia, together with its cooperation partners, launched the implementation of the project “Digital and Security Technologies Skills Fund POLIGONS”. The aim of the project is to establish and pilot a sustainable skills fund model that will help identify the skills required by companies in a timely manner and support the targeted professional development of employees in the fields of digital and security technologies.
Rapid technological development, the increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity challenges and the digitalisation of businesses are significantly changing the knowledge and skills required in the labour market. At the same time, companies need flexible solutions that allow them not only to respond to existing skills shortages, but also to prepare for future needs in a timely manner.
POLIGONS is designed as a cooperation platform bringing together companies, employee representatives, the public sector and other stakeholders, with the aim of ensuring that training opportunities are based on the actual needs of the labour market and relevant industries.
During the project, the necessary skills in the fields of digital and security technologies will be identified and analysed, human capital development solutions and a skills fund operating model will be developed, and the model will be piloted in practice.
An important part of the project will be the involvement of companies and the provision of support for the professional development of their employees. This will enable companies to develop employee competencies in a targeted manner, in line with technological developments and specific business needs.
The project will also include activities aimed at engaging companies and other target groups, fostering cooperation, identifying skills needs, and disseminating information about training and professional development opportunities.
